Nizamabad: A jeweller was relieved of a bag containing gold, silver ornaments and cash all amounting to Rs 15 lakh, at Dichpally in Nizamabad district on Thursday.

According to police, Shravan who owns Sri Shiva Sai Jewellers at Dichpally mandal headquarters, was opening the shutters of his shop in the morning when two bike-borne miscreants snatched away the bag kept on his two-wheeler and escaped.

The bag contained 30 tolas gold, 18 kg silver ornaments and Rs 2.5 lakh in cash. Shravan lodged a complaint with the Dichpally police, who registered a case and were investigating.

Police observed CCTV footage and saw that the two persons had followed Shravan and when he had kept the bag on his bike to open the shutters, they snatched it and escaped.

Police suspect that the accused had conducted a recce observing Shravan’s movements before robbing him.
