Hyderabad: Students protest credit detention at JNTU | Published: 12th July 2018 | Posted Date: Thursday 12th July 2018 06:09 PM

Hyderabad: Hundreds of engineering students held a protest at JNTU-H on Wednesday to press their demand for advance supplementary examinations. The protest was organised by student leaders who said they had received complaints from students.

NSUI member Mohammad Sohailuddin said, “We organised the protest today on the demand from students of all JNTU-H affiliated colleges to conduct advance supplementary exams for first, second and third year students. We demand that the university remove the credit detention system due to which thousands of students are suffering.”

He said thousands of students were getting detained and they ran the risk of losing a year. “That is why we have requested the state government and education minister Kadiam Srihari to remove credit base detention system,” Mr Sohaliuddin said.

He said the NSUI had approached university officials who said they will inform about the advance supplementary examinations on Tuesday. “If they don’t conduct the advance supplementary exams, we will call for a JNTUH bandh,” he said and added that students would hold a huge protest at the university campus again. “A few students have also planned to sit on a hunger strike,” he said.
