TRS failed to give 2BHKs: A Revanth Reddy | Published: 26th February 2020 | Posted Date: Wednesday 26th February 2020 07:10 PM

Hyderabad: Corrupt practices of higher-ups in the state are the reason for delay in construction of double-bedroom houses, alleged A. Revanth Reddy, Congress MP for Malkajgiri.

He said the state received funds for construction of 2.82 lakh houses, and Rs 6000 crore from NABARD, but diverted the funds to pay the contractors of Mission Bhagiratha. He said diverting funds in this manner was a criminal offence.

On Tuesday, Mr Reddy took part in the Congress’ ‘Patnam Gosa’ programme in LB Nagar to rival the government-led Pattana Pragati’ programme - where he alleged that municipal administration minister K.T. Rama Rao was talking only about cleanliness but not about the promises that his party has failed to keep.

Mr Reddy alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Mr Rama Rao had promised to construct 2BHK houses for the poor during the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections in 2016, but had ignored it.

He demanded that since the government failed to keep its word, it should extend financial assistance of Rs 5,000 per month as house rent to each family that was promised a 2BHK house.

The Malkajgiri Lok Sabha MP visited Bandlaguda, Nagole, Mansurabad, Hayatnagar, and Vanasthalipuram and discussed with local officials the progress of the houses.
