The GHMC officials remove half of banners from three buildings at Dharam Karamroad in Ameerpet on Tuesday.
Hyderabad: Only 50 per cent of the banners from the three buildings which house a large number of coaching centres on Dharam Karamroad at Ameerpet could be removed on Tuesday by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
The coaching classes and educational consultants had placed huge banners on the three buildings, covering them completely. Even street light poles and walls had banners covering them. Over 20,000 flexis were removed by 30 teams. The remaining will be removed on Wednesday.
GHMC additional commissioner Mushraaf Ali Faruqui said, “Three hundred employees, 30 vehicles and four JCBs were used to clear 50 per cent of the banners. The team has worked for over 12 hours to clear these banners.”
The educational hub in Ameerpet has a large number of students attending the coaching centres. The fire at a building housing coaching institutes in Surat that claimed 22 students led to GHMC commissioner M. Dana Kishore inspecting Ameerpet and ordering that the banners, hoardings and flexis be removed and passageways cleared.
