Hyderabad: Medchal-Malkajgiri panchayat officer A. Ravi Kumar was arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau officials at his office while taking a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from the ex-sarpanch to do an official favour, on Thursday.
The ACB said Kumar was caught at about 12.55 pm, when he was accepting the money which was part of the Rs 4 lakh bribe he demanded from Gundla Pochampally ex-sarpanch Beri Eshwar.
ACB said Kumar had demanded the bribe to sort out the special audit ordered against Eshwar for his tenure as the sarpanch of the village.
The Governor made this observation when Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao called on her at Raj Bhavan to convey birthday greetings to her.
