Angry students of the Osmania University and Telangana activists called for a 24-hour bandh in the region on Wednesday after an MCA student allegedly immolated himself, pained at the delay in the formation of a separate state.

With this, life in the city is set to grind to a halt again with the APSRTC cancelling its bus services and the administration ordering heavy police deployment.

The campus exploded in protests once again after the burnt body of K. Venugopal Reddy was found near Tagore auditorium. A suicide note in a bag nearby said he had ended his life as he was depressed over the delay in formation of Telangana. The note requested the Congress president, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, to declare a separate state immediately.
