Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Education Kadiyam Srihari said the State government was transforming educational institutions on par with corporate ones to provide quality education and develop human resource in the State.

Mr. Srihari along with Minister for Finance and Civil Supplies Eatala Rajender laid foundation stone for the construction of Teacher Training Centre at a cost of ₹20 lakh at Peddapalli and also inaugurated the newly-constructed Government Junior College building at Julapalli mandal on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Srihari said earlier governments had sanctioned government degree, junior and DEd colleges, but failed to construct the buildings. The TRS party, after coming to power, allocated ₹313 crore for the construction of 404 junior college buildings and has completed 396 buildings so far. He said the government streamlined engineering colleges with an aim to provide quality education by reducing over one lakh seats.

To ensure higher education for girl students, the government sanctioned 53 residential degree colleges in the State. Stating that they were taking all measures to fill up vacant posts, he said the government increased the honorarium for contract lecturers from ₹18,000 per month to ₹36,000 a month.

On the occasion, he asked Peddapalli legislator D. Manohar Reddy to release ₹1 crore from his constituency development fund for taking up minor repairs and other work in government schools and junior colleges.

Listing out the welfare schemes implemented by the government for all sections, Mr. Eatala said the erstwhile Karimnagar district would be the first beneficiary of Kaleshwarm lift irrigation project that was all set for trial run in July.

‘Sanction college’

Mr. Manohar Reddy urged the government to sanction a government residential degree college for women in Peddapalli town.

Legislative Council Chief Whip P. Sudhakar Reddy, TSRTC Chairman S. Satyanarayana, Peddapalli MP Balka Suman, MLCs Naradasu Laxman Rao and T. Bhanu Prasad, IDC Chairman E. Shankar Reddy, Collector A. Sri Devasena and others were also present.
