Andhra Pradesh, Telangana Coronavirus Live updates: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy announced an ex-gratia of Rs 50 lakh to the kin of the deceased in the fire incident at a coronavirus facility in Vijayawada that has claimed at least 10 lives. Reddy also ordered a probe to conduct an in-depth investigation of the mishap. He also directed authorities to take steps to ensure better medical services to the victims of the accident.

Telangana reported 1,982 new coronavirus cases and 12 deaths in the last 24 hours, the state’s bulletin notified on Sunday. With this Telangana’s total caseload is inching closer to the 80,000 mark and currently stands at 79,495 along with 627 fatalities. With a recovery rate of 70.44%, over 55,000 people have recovered till now while 22,869 are still active cases.

Former Congress MP and senior Telangana leader Nandi Yellaiah passed away due to COVID-19 on Saturday. He was a six-time Lok Sabha MP and one-time Rajya Sabha MP. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao expressed his condolences on the demise of Yellaiah.

Andhra Pradesh crossed the 2 lakh mark Friday as another 10,171 were added taking the overall tally to 2,06,960 out of which over 1.2 lakh people have recovered till now. With 89 new deaths, the state reported its highest single day spike in death toll so far.

After reporting its first case on 12 March, AP’s coronavirus graph peaked to over two lakh cases in just 149 days, witnessing a rapid rise, particularly in the past three weeks. The state has till now tested 23,62,270 samples and its infection positivity rate climbed further to 8. 76% inching closer to the national average of 8. 90%.  The recovery rate too improved to 58.21 per cent, but was way below the national average of 67.98 percent.
