Khammam: Three sarpanches and three gram panchayat secretaries in the district were suspended for their alleged negligence in the implementation of State government’s flagship programmes. The District Collector KV Karnan has issued orders in that connection here on Friday.

The sarpanches, R Sravan Kumar of Acharlagudem in Nelakondapalli mandal, Banoth Kishan of Gangabanda thanda in Kusumanchi mandal and S Lakshminarayana of Basvapuram in Tallada mandal were those suspended.

They were accused of acting negligently in the execution of the works related to Palle Pragathi, Vaikunta Dhamams, segregation sheds and Palle Prakruthi Vanams in their respective villages.

Similarly, the gram panchayat secretaries, N Madhu of Garlapadu in Bonakal mandal, Venkateshwarlu of Rajeshwarapuram in Nelakondapalli mandal and G Sitaramulu of Chinakorukondi in Kallur mandal and Tallada MPO Nazma Sultana were suspended for their alleged negligence in gram panchayat works.

The above were given a prior warning for neglecting the works and yet they failed to deliver their duties and hence they were suspended, the Collector Karnan said adding that those neglecting government flagship programmes would be punished.

Inspected Rythu Vedika works

The Collector has on Friday conducted surprise inspections of infrastructure works at Velugumatla for rehabilitating Gollapadu channel evacuees and Rythu Vedika works at Allipuram village near Khammam.

Karnan informed that works like laying pipelines, installing power supply lines and street lights. During an interaction with the evacuees he told that they should not sell the lands given to them.

He directed the officials and contractors to complete all Rythu Vedikas at the earliest. Khammam RDO Ravindranath, District Agriculture Officer Vijaya Nirmala and others were present.
